Our Work
EuroMed Rights’ work on Egypt focuses on human rights advocacy, documentation and communication, with the protection of human rights defenders as a key priority. In the last few years, the massive repression of civil society and continued criminalisation of human rights defenders’ activities have pushed many activists, including some of EuroMed Rights’ members and partners, to leave Egypt. As they relocated abroad, the network launched the Egypt programme to mobilise public support, and called for an end to all forms of harassment against human rights defenders and activists in Egypt. A newsletter published fortnightly by EuroMed Rights provides regular information on human rights defenders at risk in Egypt.
