Ahead of the next UN Universal Periodic Review of Egypt’s human rights record scheduled for 13 November 2019, 18 NGOs have urged EU Members states to use this occasion to address the unparalleled stifling of human rights in Egypt.
In an open letter addressed to the governments of EU Members States, the NGOs underlined that since the last review of Egypt’s record in 2014, human rights violations have increased sharply with an unprecedented level of repression against human rights organisations and human rights defenders.
