On 23 June, EuroMed Rights and the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies delivered an oral intervention during the interactive dialogue with the International Independent Commission of Inquiry on Syria, in the framework of the 29th session of the Human Rights Council. The intervention, delivered by Syrian lawyer Anouar Al Bunni, emphasized the constant failure of the UN Security Council to address the prevailing climate of impunity in Syria and urged UN member states to explore alternative paths of accountability in Syria, including the use of universal jurisdiction to prosecute war criminals.
