- On 27 September, the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported that under a new agreement with Turkey, Germany has begun deporting around 200 Turkish citizens back to Turkey. However, the Turkish government denied the news, while the German interior minister said that they were in intensive talks with Turkey, but that details had to remain confidential.
- On 25 September, the Turkish authorities announced that they had prevented almost 190,000 migrants from reaching the European Union by boat in the last five years. 38,411 migrants have been intercepted at sea by the Turkish authorities since the beginning of the year.
- On 20 September, ECRE published its AIDA country report on Turkey, highlighting a 43% drop in applications for international protection, largely due to a shift in border management, with 80% of the borders with Iran and Syria being completed. They also found that it was almost impossible for vulnerable people to apply for asylum and that anti-migrant sentiment was on the rise.
