  • In early March, the governor of Turkey’s Edirne province, Yunus Sezer, announced the construction of an 8.5-kilometer wall this year. The project is the first phase of a planned 200 km wall along the land border between Turkey and Greece. This initiative is part of the agreement signed in 2016 between the European Union and Turkey, aimed at limiting the arrival of Syrian refugees in Europe, thus illustrating the inhumane externalization policies put in place by the EU.
