Portuguese Human Rights League – Civitas (LPDHC)

The League was founded on 3 April 1921 in the hall of the Lisbon Commercial Athenaeum and at the time was called the Portuguese League for Human Rights, inspired by the French League for Human Rights.

The League’s aim is to defend, deepen and expand human rights, which are considered essential elements of personal dignity and the possibility of guaranteeing that, through freedom, each person can take responsibility for their own destiny and that of the community in which they belong. Portuguese Human Rights League – Civitas (LPDHC) has been a member of EuroMed Rights since October 1, 2015.
