- On 2 December, the IOM announced that 20,839 people had been intercepted at sea by the Libyan coastguard in 2024. 18,000 men, 1,500 women and 680 minors were turned back to Libya. The number of interceptions is increasing, despite the systematic and well-known violence of the Libyan coastguard.
