  • On September 10, activists protested in front of the Safi Detention Center demanding the release of 5 Ethiopians who are expected to be deported to Ethiopia, even though they have been legally residing and working in Malta for years.
  • On September 9, Malta’s Home Affairs Minister announced plans to update the country’s labor migration policy to better align it with economic needs, strengthen workers’ rights, promote job stability and encourage skills development. The minister also emphasized his intention to protect children from deportation when their parents’ employment status changes.
