CSOs cooperation to increase access to fundamental rights and
protection for refugees from Syria in Lebanon

Since 2021, EuroMed Rights’ Migration and Asylum Programme has implemented a project, finance by the Fondation de France (FdF), together with our Lebanese partners, the Lebanese Centre for Human Rights (CLDH) and ALEF, aimed to increase CSOs cooperation to protect the fundamental rights and protection of Syrian refugees in Lebanon. The project focuses on the main issues of lack of access to fundamental rights, including access to basic services, for Syrian refugees in Lebanon as well as mounting discrimination against them. We have also worked with partners to document pushback and return cases and raising awareness at the international level on the human rights violations towards refugees in Lebanon. It was especially important to create a bridge between Lebanese and Cypriot CSOs, to document cases of illegal pushbacks. At the same time, it is important to shed light on the lesser-known route that links Lebanon to Member States such as Cyprus, or Italy, which has seen many recent cases of violations, deaths and people going missing.
