Middle East Unit Internship – EuroMed Rights, Brussels office

Remuneration: CIP – Internship Convention 977,50 €/ month + public transport + lunch vouchers + internet + telework

EuroMed Rights is looking to recruit a motivated intern to assist the Middle East Unit in its work. The internship is for a period of 6 months, under the terms of a Professional Immersion Agreement (CIP). 

Description of tasks 

The intern will assist the Middle East Unit under the overall supervision of, and according to priorities set by the Programmes Director, including the following tasks:  

  • Support the Middle East Unit with the practical and logistical organisation of activities, including sending invitation letters, setting up meetings, booking hotels, flights and trains, etc.; 
  • Participate in various meetings, take notes and prepare meeting reports and minutes; 
  • Facilitate coordination meetings with relevant INGOs on human rights defenders at risk and occasionally assist their protection activities”; 
  • Contributes to EuroMed Rights’ learning and evaluation system; 
  • Maintain and update the database of Middle East Unit contacts; assist in compiling information on human rights defenders at risk and in drafting briefings, statements and editing reports; 
  • Prepares payment requests and other relevant documents for the Finance Department; 

Profile, Skills and Background 

  • University Degree in Middle Eastern Studies, human rights, law, political and social science – other degrees may also be considered; 
  • Keen interest and preferably proven work experience in the protection of human rights, NGOs of the EU/Middle East; 
  • Fluency in English (oral and written) is imperative, and ability to write and speak Arabic will be desirable/an asset.  
  • Computer literacy in Word, basic Excel knowledge; 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and orally; 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills; 
  • Keen attention to details; 
  • Self-motivated, well-organised, able to work independently and efficiently under pressure.
