On 29 November 2024, EuroMed Rights, in partnership with 12 civil society organisations, presented a detailed analysis of the phenomenon of missing migrants to the Special Rapporteur on the human rights of migrants, as part of the call for contributions for the 59th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
This document provides an analysis of the root causes and main factors contributing to the disappearance of migrants during their migratory journey. It also provides information on cases of migrants who went missing, as well as the legal and political obstacles encountered by families and associations at national, regional and international level. Finally, it proposes measures that States should take to remedy the situation.
