Project Support Officer – EuroMed Rights, Tunis

EuroMed Rights is looking to recruit a Project Support Officer for a European Union-funded project MAJALAT II (hereinafter named “the Project”), aimed at enhancing and structuring dialogue between the EU and South Neighbourhood civil society. The position would be a one-year contract starting as soon as possible, with location at EuroMed Rights Tunis office.

Description of Tasks

Under the overall supervision of Director of Dialogue and direct supervision of the Senior Coordinator, the Project Support Officer assists the Project Coordinator in the implementation of EuroMed Rights’ activities and responsibilities as lead applicant of a consortium consisting of three regional civil society networks and organizations in the EU and its South Mediterranean Neighbourhood.

The Project Support Officer will also play an integral role in developing and implementing MAJALAT’s communication strategies, and contributes to the visibility and promotion of project results to various target audiences, including decision-makers, donors, CSOs, the media and the general public.

The Project Support Officer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator, contribute to the organisation of activities in the Maghreb region: trainings, workshops, webinars, regional conferences, outreach missions and Steering Committee meetings;
  • Animate one of the Majalat II Thematic Working Groups;
  • Provide practical and logistical support for events, including invitations, travel arrangements, booking of venue, catering booking and interpretation services, etc;
  • Support contracting and payment processes, ensuring follow up, due diligence and the timely delivery of quality results;
  • Assist in monitoring and providing support to the subgrantees, as well as following contracting and payment processes;
  • Contribute to narrative and financial reporting;
  • Contribute to the printing, translation, publication and promotion of materials and reports;
  • Participate in meetings and draft reports;
  • Contribute to plan and implement the project’s communication strategy and awareness-raising campaigns, in accordance with the established objectives and timetable;
  • Feed the project website and digital platforms with relevant information related to the project activities and news related to the region and thematic areas;
  • Ensure the consistency of the visual identity of the project and coordinate the communication work between the different organizations of the consortium;
  • Create media and digital content and promotional materials (visuals, videos, layouts, articles, posts, press releases etc);
  • Cultivate relationships with Southern Neighborhood and EU regional media to ensure good coverage of project activities.

Profile, Skills and Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Human Rights, Law, or Political and Social Science – other degrees may also be considered;
  • Demonstrated work experience, including events management and administrative tasks for multi-faceted projects;
  • Relevant experience in managing digital platforms and social networks (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) and in the creation of media and promotional content (including articles, press releases and other);
  • Experience and familiarity in the field of human rights and rule of law, as with non-profit organisations in the MENA region will be considered an asset;
  • Excellent written and spoken English, and working knowledge of French and Arabic;
  • Knowledge of the functioning of the EU institutions and EU’s foreign policy, in particular towards its South-ern Neighbourhood, and of human rights standards;
  • Self-motivated, well-organised, keen attention to details, able to work independently and efficiently under pressure;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Computer literacy in Office suite and online conferencing tools (Zoom/Teams), and interest in digital secu-rity and IT/communication tools.
