  • On May 31 2024, a report published by ECRE on Spain shows that in 2023, 163,220 people, including 31,249 children, applied for asylum in the country. The rate of recognition of refugee status is 40%.
  • On May 27 2024, in the south of Andalusia, 16 north African men were assisted by the coast guard and then transported to the port of Motril.
  • On May 23 2024, 36 people from sub-Saharan Africa, including 3 minors, were rescued south of the Canary Islands by the Spanish Coast Guard.
  • On May 21 2024, according to state statistics, 5,512 children were in reception centres for minors in the Canary Islands.
  • On May 19 2024, a group of migrants had been on the islet of Alboran for about 4 days. The 54 people were evacuated to the city of Motril on May 23, 2024.
