On May 31 2024, a report published by ECRE on Spain shows that in 2023, 163,220 people, including 31,249 children, applied for asylum in the country. The rate of recognition of refugee status is 40%.
On May 27 2024, in the south of Andalusia, 16 north African men were assisted by the coast guard and then transported to the port of Motril.
On May 23 2024, 36 people from sub-Saharan Africa, including 3 minors, were rescued south of the Canary Islands by the Spanish Coast Guard.
On May 21 2024, according to state statistics, 5,512 children were in reception centres for minors in the Canary Islands.
On May 19 2024, a group of migrants had been on the islet of Alboran for about 4 days. The 54 people were evacuated to the city of Motril on May 23, 2024.
