On June 5, Rishi Sunak announced several measures about house asylum seekers’ accommodations : the use of two new barges to house them, the use of two additional land-based sites to accommodate a total of 3,000 people by autumn, to share their hotel room. The aim is to reduce the cost of hotel accommodation for asylum seekers by using facilities such as disused military bases and docked barges.
