  • Spanish police have broken up a criminal network accused of trafficking unaccompanied migrant minors from the Canary Islands to France, InfoMigrants reported on 14 November 2025. During the operation, conducted under ‘Operation Tritón’, authorities arrested eleven suspects, of which 9 were in Lanzarote, one in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and one in Madrid.  
  • UNHCR has called on Spain to protect unaccompanied migrant children and to avoid language and policies which criminalise and stigmatise them, InfoMigrants reported on 6 November 2025. A recent statement highlights the need for empathy, protection and respect for their fundamental rights, stating that the protection of unaccompanied minors is “a shared responsibility and an investment in the future of our societies”.  
  • Spain and Senegal have increased their cooperation to address human trafficking and smuggling networks. As reported by InfoMigrants on 6 November 2025, Spain’s Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska lauded Senegal’s “daily and ongoing preventive effectiveness” during the Ministerial Meeting of the International Alliance for Security in Abu Dhabi. He called Senegal ‘a key partner and ally of Spain in protecting vulnerable migrants, preventing deaths at sea, and tackling criminal networks’.
