On 12 September, Access Center for Human Rights (ACHR) issued a statement expressing concern over the latest Lebanese Council of Ministers’ proposed “voluntary return” plan for Syrian refugees.
On 4 September, Human Rights Watch released a report revealing that the Lebanese army and Cypriot authorities are cooperating to intercept, push back, and then return Syrians to Syria without regard to their refugee status or asylum claims. The report also showed that the EU has provided Lebanon with millions in funding for border management without adequate oversight.
