On 15 September, hundreds of people tried to cross the Moroccan-Spanish border to Ceuta, following calls on social networks. The police prevented all of them from crossing the border.
On 7 September, the Moroccan state news agency MAP reported that the country had stopped 45,000 migrants trying to reach Europe since the beginning of the year. There have also been 10,859 sea rescues by the Moroccan navy so far this year.
On 29 August, members of the Spanish far-right party Hacer Nacion displayed anti-immigration banners in Rabat with the slogan “Africa doesn’t fit in Europe. Stay there”.
