On 11 September, 6 bodies were found off the coast of Tunis. According to initial analysis, they were 5 women and a child under the age of 2 who had drowned a week earlier.
On 11 September, InfoMigrants revealed that hundreds of migrants near the Tunisian city of Sfax are living in drastic conditions without any support from the government. Violence is escalating, more and more people are being injured by machetes or guns, and cholera, dysentery and typhoid are spreading due to a lack of access to drinking water and poor sanitary conditions.
On 30 August, 40 migrants including at least 3 pregnant women, and 2 children were abandoned in the desert near the Tunisian-Algeria border without water or food after being expelled from Tunisia’s coastal city of Sfax.
