On 9 September, IOM Libya announced that 804 migrants had been intercepted at sea and pushed back to Libya between 1 and 7 September.
On 3 September, a boat carrying 32 people capsized off the Libyan coast, leaving 1 dead and 22 missing. The 9 survivors, originally from Syria and Egypt, were returned to Libya and were treated in a hospital in Tobruk.
On 30 August, a thousand migrants were released from a secret prison in the Ash Shwayrif region, south of Tripoli. The migrants had been detained and tortured to force their families to pay for their release.
On 28 August, the UNHCR announced that it was increasing its emergency assistance in Alkufra, Libya, in response to the influx of Sudanese refugees. As the situation in Sudan deteriorates, Alkufra is receiving around 350 Sudanese every day.
