  • On May 13, 2024, AlarmPhone relayed the distress call of 50 migrants, including 13 children in the Central Mediterranean departed from Libya.
  • On May 07, 2024, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni went to Libya for a new official visit in North Africa. She held talks with the government of national unity led by Abdel Hamid Dbeibah on the subject of migration in exchange for the signing of a number of cooperation agreements.
  • On May 06, 2024, the Criminal Investigation Department said it had released 107 migrants, including women and children, from a detention camp in southeastern Libya. Mostly from Somalia, these people were imprisoned for up to 7 months and are now in a very deteriorated health condition.
