On March 11, 2024, Aegean Boat Report reported deportations by Turkish authorities of Afghan nationals from coastal cities in southwestern Turkey to the border with Iran. These Afghan refugees, despite having proper documentation, fear deportation to Iran and then to Afghanization where their lives would be threatened by the Taliban.
On February 21, 2024, in the context of diplomatic rapprochement between Turkey and Greece, the Greek Supreme Court ruled in favour of the extradition of Turkish asylum seeker and opponent Ali Yesildag. A group of NGOs is calling on the Greek Ministry of Justice to protect this individual who accuses President Erdogan of corruption.
