On 07 March 2023, the Belgian Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration, Nicole de Moor, and the Spanish Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, as well as the European Commissioner for Migration, Ylva Johansson, visited Mauritania. There were discussions about a “strategic partnership” around migration issues with Nouakchott.
