On 1 October, the newspaper Politiken revealed that the Danish government was planning to cut millions from the budget for migrant integration. Similar plans were scrapped in the spring after pressure from civil society and opposition parties.
On 23 September, the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, stated that he was monitoring the implementation of circular migration deals between Germany and other countries with great interest. The minister said these agreements were a good solution to fight irregular migration and attract foreign workers.
