On June 01 2024, 60 people were adrift south of Malta. They were rescued by a commercial ship that transported them to Lampedusa. 1 person died during the rescue.
On May 20 2024, the Ocean Viking found 35 migrants of Bangladeshi origin near Malta who had left the city of Benghazi in Libya. The rescue team found them in a very deteriorated state of health before transporting them to an Italian port.
