The document dismisses the hypothesis of an “accident” and pleads for the search for truth and justice. More than 2,000 people found themselves between the Spanish hammer and the Moroccan anvil in the enclave of Melilla. Thus, with supporting evidence, Border Forensic points the finger at the responsibility of both the Spanish and Moroccan police.
On 12 June, 2024, the Caminando Fronteras organization published its January-May 2024 report on the deaths in the “Western Euro-African border”. Since the beginning of 2024, 5,054 people, including 154 women and 50 children, have died on the various migration routes to Spain. More than 4,800 of these people have perished on the Atlantic route.
