At the European Political Community (EPC) summit in Moldova, Rishi Sunak declared that he had made cooperation in the fight against illegal immigration a priority. According to him, Europe is “facing unprecedented threats at our borders”.
On 23 May, the UK announced its intention to limit family reunification for some foreign students in order to reduce immigration to the country. The measure will come into force in January 2024.
The UK plans to give 45,000 seasonal visas to migrants who will work in the horticulture sector in 2024. The government said that this number could be increased if needed.
