  • On 17 October, a baby died and 65 people were rescued when a boat capsized in the English Channel.
  • On 17 October, after many changes of decision, the state medical aid that allows undocumented migrants to receive medical care in France is not expected to be changed in the end, although its funding will be frozen in 2025.
  • On 16 October, Bruno Retailleau announced that he wanted to change the length of stay in administrative detention centers, where people are held before being sent back to their country of origin or a third country. The period would be increased from 90 to 210 days. A French newspaper has also revealed that the minister is in the process of signing agreements with third countries, such as Iraq, Kazakhstan and Egypt, so that all foreign nationals who have not been granted asylum can be deported there.
  • On 12 October, three migrant boats in distress off the coast of Calais were rescued by the French coastguard. A total of 128 people were rescued and brought to shore.
  • On 11 October, Mediapart revealed that a Zodiac carrying around twenty migrants had been deliberately rammed by a pleasure boat in northern France at the end of September. The police who were present at the time, have been accused of inaction.
  • On 9 October, the French interior minister has decided to put an end to the circular allowing undocumented foreigners to be regularized for work or family reasons, although it has been issued in sporadic waves for years.
