On 18 April 2024, Balakrishnan Rajagopal, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Housing, recalled that the evictions that the French authorities are carrying out resemble what other countries have already done in the past before the holding of major sporting events, in violation of international law. This “embellishment” of Paris, before the Olympic Games, is carried out by acts of extreme violence.
On 17 April 2024, French police carried out again mass evictions of migrants in the city of Paris.
