On 4 April 2023, the European Court of Human Rights published its judgement on the A.D. v. Greece case. The Court found that Greece had violated the prohibition of torture, inhumane and degrading treatment by forcing the applicant to live in unbearable conditions in Samos hotspot. It is the first time that the Court condemns the living conditions faced by asylum seekers in a Greek hotspot as inhumane and degrading treatment.
