On the 10^th of July, UK Prime-Minister Keir Starmer and French president Emmanuel Macron agreed on new cooperation measures between the two countries to “stop the boats” crossing the sea border. With deaths in the English Channel on the rise, both governments are going for a crackdown and against freedom of movement.

On the 3^rd of July, Organizations Utopia 56 and the Association d’Accès aux Droit des Jeunes et D’accompagnement vers la Majorité released a report about the treatment of migrant children in France. The report criticizes the subjectiveness of age assessments, “the abandonment of minors on the streets, unaddressed trauma, insufficient assessment of identity documents, and a lack of appropriate care facilities”, according to InfoMigrants. The document also shows that only half of the minors are recognised as such after appeal.
