On the 14^th of July, more than 100 migrants who were under captivity of a gang in Libya were freed. Five individuals suspected of migrant trafficking were also arrested.

On the 8^th of July, the Libyan government cancelled the diplomatic visit of Italian, Greek, and Maltese interior ministers, as well as the European Union’s migration commissioner. According to Politico, the diplomatic incident will make the EU “have to reassess its plans for working with Libya”. It might also “be tempting for countries like Greece”, who have a significant migrant inflow from Libya, “to consider bypassing Brussels and making their own arrangements”.
