- On 6 December, the Home Office announced its decision to double the maximum stay in temporary accommodation for asylum seekers from 28 to 56 days. The move follows a recent study which found that nearly 2,000 adults with leave to remain will become homeless in 2023-24 in the UK.
- On 4 December, 289 people, including children, crossed the Channel from France to England in six boats. It had been two weeks since any small boats had reached the UK, as weather conditions remained very bad.
