  • Belgium has recently adopted stricter asylum and migration policies, despite experiencing increasing labour shortages. Since 2025, the government has implemented a series of measures aimed at reducing the number of asylum applications. These measures include restricting access to reception facilities and refusing accommodation to individuals who have already been granted protection in another EU Member State. As a result, thousands of asylum seekers have been left without housing. At the same time, Belgian authorities have faced numerous court rulings finding that they failed to comply with their legal obligations to provide adequate reception conditions.
