  • On 26 November 2025, Save the Children published a new report titled “Traversing Danger: Cumulative risks and psychological harm for children in migration – Routes-based Trends, Experiences, Protection Risks and EU Involvement on the Sudan – Egypt – Libya – Greece – Balkan Route(s)”. The investigation reveals that the impact of gender-based violence which children experience on their journey from Sudan remains largely unaddressed in Egypt due to a significant lack of mental health services. Further, it identifies arrest and detention at police check points as one of the biggest risks for children once they reach Egypt, finding that since mid-2025, deportations were conducted independently of legal status. Finally, the study highlights that worsening insecurity and poor access to healthcare and education are pushing more Sudanese children to leave Egypt for Libya and travel onward to Greece.
  • Egypt and Switzerland have signed two bilateral migration agreements, swissinfo reported on 17 November 2025. The first agreement will increase support to Egypt as a host country in the areas of legal migration, tackling human trafficking, readmission and voluntary return, while the second agreement establishes visa-free travel for diplomats. During his visit to Cairo, Swiss Justice Minister Beat Jans emphasised the importance of the countries’ relationship and declared that Switzerland would contribute an additional CHF1.2 million ($1.5 million) by the end of 2026.
