On the second of January 2025, northeast of Sfax, in the Kerkennah islands, two boats sank. 27 people died and 83 survived, including 17 women and 17 minors.
On the 18th of December 2024, the Tunisian National Guard found the bodies of 20 migrants. The group had left Sfax before their boat sank. 5 people survived.
