On 09 April 2024, 22 migrants, including 6 men, 5 women and 11 frightened children, hid in the mountains of the island of Samos. They were subsequently admitted to the Closed Controlled Access Centre.
Between 08 April and 14 April 2024, according to Aegean Boat Report, 39 boats were turned back and 1,175 migrants were arrested on the Greek islands.
On 07 April 2024, 10 migrants, including a child, were in danger near the island of Nimos. The next day, the Greek Coast Guard rescued them and transported them to Simi Island.
On May 05, 2024, according to Greek judicial sources, nine Egyptian migrant men were accused of “human trafficking” and will be tried in this case concerning the sinking of a migrant boat in June 2023.
