On June 20, World Refugee Day, Egypt highlighted the need to mobilise international solidarity in order to find sustainable and durable solutions to the refugee crisis.
On 19 June, Joseph Borrell, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Policy, met Egyptian leaders in Cairo. It was agreed to provide €80 million in European funds for Egyptian border management, search and rescue operations and operations to combat human trafficking.
