According to an article published by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, Algeria seems to be following a similar trajectory to Egypt in initiating the drafting of an asylum law. The government is still in the early stages of the process, and very little information has been made public about it. Only the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) has expressed its availability to support Algeria by making its expertise available to contribute to the development of this legislative framework. As the author of the article points out: “Such a law will improve neither the precarious situation of people on the move, nor the deportation practices of Algeria.”
