  • According to reports by Sudanese and Libyan press, on 14 September 2025, a boat carrying 52 Sudanese migrants capsized in Libyan waters, leaving 11 dead. The boat was crossing the Mediterranean on what is called the ‘Tobrouk route’ on its way to Greece.  
  • ALibyan coastguard boat funded by the EU fired multiple rounds of ammunition at the Ocean Viking, a humanitarian rescue vessel operated by SOS Méditerranée. The incident occurred on 24 August 2025 in international waters north of Libya where the Ocean Viking had shortly before rescued 87 people. The European Commission called the incident a ‘worrying development’ and said it will investigate to establish the facts of the event 
  • According to Libyan authorities, 462 Egyptian migrants were deported via the Imsaad Border Crossing on 11 August 2025. 
  • On July 26 and 27 2025, Libyan authorities conducted a raid east of Tripoli that resulted in the arrest of approximately 1,500 migrant workers, who are now facing deportation. The majority of these individuals are from other African countries.
