  • In a press release from 2 October 2025, the Delegation of the European Union to Lebanon announced that Lebanon had launched Joint Rescue Coordination Centre at Beirut Naval Base. The Centre has been established with funding from the EU and France under the project “Disaster Management, Port and Maritime Reform for Economic Recovery”. Its aim is to enhance the ability of the Lebanese Armed Forces to ‘protect lives at sea and monitor Lebanese territorial waters’. According to the report, the Centre will serve as the focal point for coordinating maritime emergency responses, ensuring faster and more efficient action in situations such as distress calls, maritime incidents, and migrant rescue operations.
