  •  From June 12 to 13, 919 people attempted to reach the United Kingdom from northern France aboard 14 different vessels. During various rescue operations, 99 people were saved. Some of the boats were deflated or lacked an engine.
  • On 15 May, during a visit to Albania, the British Prime Minister announced his intention to set up “return centres” outside the UK for people whose asylum applications have been refused. A policy similar to the one announced by the EU in its new directive on “returns”.
  • The NGO Women for Refugee Women has published a report highlighting the dramatic consequences of the rejection of asylum applications on women. Indeed, a large proportion of them find themselves forced to prostitute themselves or to remain in non-consensual and abusive relationships to meet their basic needs.
