  • In report published at the end of June, the NGO Action Against Hunger warns of the food insecurity suffered by asylum seekers housed in emergency accommodation managed by the French state. At the time the survey was conducted, 48% of people were severely or moderately hungry.  
  • On June 18th, the Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, launched a nationwide search for foreigners: “4,000 gendarmes, police, customs officers and Sentinel forces are mobilized to arrest illegal immigrants,” he said. Retailleau publicly called for a systematic search for people said to be in an “irregular” situation. 
  • On June 15th, near a camp for exiles in northern France, one person was shot dead and two others were injured. The day before, another person was also shot dead, and five others were injured, including a woman and an infant. In Loon-Plage, the violence continues to worsen, while the living conditions in the camp are becoming increasingly undignified. 
  • Three associations working in Calais and concerned about the situation of migrants have asked the town hall and the agglomeration community to collect waste in the camps where the migrants are located. However, on June 12th, the administrative court of Lille rejected their requests to improve the living conditions of migrants.
