On 28 March 2024, Amara, Abdalla and Kader were persecuted by the Maltese authorities for “terrorism”. Five years ago, they were 15, 16 and 19 years old, respectively. Their only mistake had been to serve as translators on the oil tanker El Hiblu to help migrants who had been turned back to Libya. Moreover, an international coalition has been set up to support their fight.
