  • On 27 October 2025, 18 people died off the coast of Libya as their wooden boat capsized due to high waves, the IOM reported in a statement. The vessel been overcrowded, having left from Al Zawiya, Libya only hours before. 64 people were rescued and brought back to the coast, among them 29 Sudanese men, one Sudanese woman, and one Sudanese child; 18 Bangladeshi men; 12 Pakistani men; and three Somali men. 
  • According to a press release by Libya’s Emergency Medicine and Support Centre published on 12 October 2025, the bodies of 61 migrants have been recovered during the last two weeks. All of the remains were found along the coastline of western Libya, close to the border of Tunisia. The bodies were transferred to the morgue for identification, autopsy, and burial, according to the EMSC.
