EuroMed Rights is pleased to announce that the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) has renewed its financial trust into the Network’s activities. With up to 70 million SEK (approximately 6.375 million EUR), the funds provided by the Swedish Agency will support the implementation of EuroMed Rights’ 2022-2027 strategy to promote and protect human rights and democracy in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean regions while seeking to influence the policies of major European actors towards these areas. This amount constitutes a 40% increase compared to the previous grant period and is a testimony to EuroMed Rights’ co-creative approach with other civil society organisations.

EuroMed Rights is also pleased to announce that the Network of European Foundations will fund a new project dedicated to the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in migration. This project, for which EuroMed Rights will receive up to 120,000 EUR for the period 2022-2024, will build on the work recently carried on Business and Human Rights by EuroMed Rights’ Migration and Economic, Social and Cultural Rights programmes. It will also directly participate in EuroMed Rights’ Migration objective of “Promoting the establishment of an independent mechanism to monitor EU budgets for migration-related operations to ensure better transparency and accountability”.

This financial support comes at an important time as EuroMed Rights gears up to better promote and defend human rights against new and increasingly violent challenges from autocracies and illiberal regimes. EuroMed Rights wishes to thank its donors for their support.
