The security situation in Lebanon deteriorated in 2013 with violence spilling over from the armed conflict in Syria. The crisis in neighbouring Syria has pushed many people to seek haven in the country. With limited international support, Lebanon has bear the brunt of the refugee crisis and is struggling to meet the refugges’s basic needs. The government took measures to restrict the entry of refugees from Syria, including Palestinians.Palestinian refugees who are long-term residents in the country face discrimination in law and practice. Migrant workers face exploitation and abuse.
Women still face discrimination in law and in practice, and cannot pass their nationalities to their children.
